Community Living Assistance and Support Services
Community Living Assistance and Support Services (CLASS) provides home and community based services to people with related conditions as a cost effective alternative to placement in an intermediate care facility. (A related condition is a disability, other that mental retardation, that originated before age 22 and that effects the ability to function in daily life.)
Participants have two service providers. The first provides independent case management; the second provides all other services. The CLASS service model focuses on client independence and integration into everyday community life.
Services are also available through Consumer Direct Services a payment option that allows consumers to recruit , hire, manage, and fire their personal assistants and respite care providers.
SPCAA CLASS program is available in 9 counties: Lubbock, Hockley, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Crosby, Garza, Lynn, Terry. The average length of time on the interest list varies depending on the county you live in. The average length of time to receive services once the eligibility process begins is between 90 and 120 days.
