Head Start Family Service Assistant Coordinator

This position entails mainly specific tasks that are technical and diverse in nature and requires the capacity for independent judgment and action and the ability to work with others to accomplish program goals and objectives and integration of program activities to achieve comprehensive program services f or eligible children and f amilies. Regular work hours are 8 am to 5 pm; however extended hours will be required. Must be able to adapt to f lexible work schedules as established by management. This employee must exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to job duties.

JOB TITLE SUMMARY

Assistant Coordinator must be able to perform dual functions of monitoring program outcomes and working collaboratively with licensed partner/partner site staf f to implement necessary changes so as to achieve program goals in those areas needing improvement. This individual must be able to work in conjunction with licensed partner/partner staf f, resources and service providers, and others to facilitate high quality Head Start program services in all content areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION • Works collaboratively with licensed partner/partner staf f to ensure all Head Start Performance Standards, The Head Start Act, and CCR Minimum Standards are implemented as set f orth in the SPCAA Head Start policies and procedures. • Ensure all program areas are integrated (education, nutrition, mental health, health, disabilities, and transportation) • Ensure accurate records of enrolled children, f amilies and site staf f are maintained , including ChildPlus. • Provide f or or arrange f or any technical assistance and/or training needed by licensed partner/partner staf f and FSWs to allow them to ef f ectively perform job duties • Maintain up to date knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, Child Care Licensing Regulations, child development concepts, social services, parent involvement, health, family services, services to children with disabilities and other applicable laws and regulations required to ensure program compliance • Disseminate information to licensed partner/partner site staf f in a timely and ef f ective manner • Coordinate with licensed partner/partner site staf f to ensure parent committee meetings including orientations and special events are scheduled, f acilitated and documentation is complete and properly distributed. • Work with FSW to ensure needs of children and f amilies are met • Ensures the funded enrollment of children is maintained f or each licensed partner/partner site • Ensure all postings are up to date and complete • Ensures the licensed partner/partner site is maintaining required supervisor of children and child/staf f ratios at all times. • Capture, value, and appropriately document In-Kind, non-federal share, & CCS enrollment of at least 25% of total enrollment • Health and safety checklist are collected bi-monthly from licensed sites and follow-up is done for all sites • Assist communication between licensed partner/partner staf f and SPCAA staf f OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES OR JOB

REQUIREMENTS • Ensure that children of all race, religion, family background and cultures are treated with respect . • Assure conf identiality of all children, families and co-workers. Team Leader Revised 2/05 Revised July 2020, Page 2 of 2 • Knowledgeable of the legal and professional responsibilities with regard to reporting suspected child abuse and neglect by parents, staf f members, and others, in accordance with the provisions of Federal, State, and/ or local law. • Keep adequate inventory of supplies to ef f ectively accomplish site actives. Requisition needed supplies, equipment, or other needed items. • Fill in f or any center staf f where the need arises. May assist at other centers or of f ices as needed. • Responsible f or reporting to their immediate supervisor or designee, if witness or sees anything present or anyone not following the SPCAA procedures/processes that place a person or program at risk

QUALIFICATIONS • An associate degree from an approved college/university preferred in a field related or one of the Head Start content areas. Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of college if approved by the Executive Director. • Experience in one or more of the main Head Start content areas of a human service program serving lowincome f amilies with young children.

Must possess ability to provide reliable self -transportation capable of regional travel. Must possess and maintain valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s permit of appropriate classif ication and endorsement as required. Must agree to maintain a satisfactory MVR and minimum requirement of insurability as required by law. MVR background checks may be conducted by the agency. • Excellent communication and organizational skills required • Available f or night and weekend work as needed. • Able to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certif ications • Must be able to pass regular criminal history checks • Must comply with the Health Requirements and Preventative Health Practices procedure • Computer and technology skills: word processing software, spreadsheet format, e-mails, internet and other necessary programs • Must be willing to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with the “Drug Free”: Agency Policy • Must submit to TB test as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Ability to maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, drive or ride in sedan, bus or van, occasionally long distances, or travel by commercial carrier and operating assigned of f ice equipment, and perform other duties as assigned. • Working with children/families is physically and emotionally demanding, requiring patience and energy • On occasion, employee must lif t, push, pull and/or remove up to 25 lbs. • Occasional pushing or pulling of weight over 25 lbs.
