Child Care Services -Client Services Specialist

Child Care Services (CCS) assists low income families pay for child care, provides information about choosing quality child care, and assists families to locate other community resources. The program also works to improve the quality of child care in the region by providing training and training resources to early childhood programs.

The Client Services Specialist determines eligibility for families requesting services, assesses their needs for child care, and follows current guidelines for the enrollment or wait listing for those eligible.  Is responsible for all paperwork, data entry, and on-going management of assigned cases.  Must be able to perform duties in a positive work mode and serve current and prospective clients in a professional manner. Ability to learn and function in a paperless environment. Will also serve as backup for receptionist if necessary.

  • Graduation from an accredited high school plus two years of full-time experience in a clerical or administrative capacity* or social work support work**.

* Administrative capacity is work where primary duties consist of performing administrative tasks of an office, excluding work such as sales, equipment operations, and manual labor.

** Social service support work entails assisting caseworkers in the delivery of social services to clients.

  • Post High School clerical or related training preferred.
  • Previous eligibility determination experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skill required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management, both orally and in writing using correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to balance a variety of duties, prioritize, and meet deadlines required.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting, standing, walking, or riding in vehicle for extended periods of time, or other duties assigned.
  • Employee regularly required to bend and squat in the process of locating and maintaining client files.
  • Employee must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25lbs.
  • The physical requirements in an office environment may require lifting boxes of supplies or files, equipment, and occasional adjustment of office furniture.
