Head Start Home Base Coordinator (Internal ONLY)

Head Start is committed to establishing a learning environment in which children, parents, and staff can teach and learn from one another. To accomplish this goal, staff must display sensitivity to and knowledge of the community’s cultural differences and issues.  All Head Start and Early Head Staff shall agree to abide by the program’s standards of conduct introduced during pre-service and/or orientation.  Employee orientation, pre-service and in-service training are provided to assist staff and volunteers in acquiring or increasing the knowledge and skills needed to fulfill their job responsibilities.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Works collaboratively with Managers and Assistants to ensure all Head Start Performance Standards, The Head Start Act, and CCR Minimum standards are implemented as set forth in the SPCAA Head Start policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of home-based services and pregnant client visits
  • Assist with onboarding and ongoing training of staff related to home-based services and pregnant client services Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of visits and services.
  • Monitor visit frequency, documentation and service quality
  • Assist staff in coordinating referrals and follow-up for families in need of additional resources and support
  • Observe Socializations.
  • Ensure continuity of home-based services by conducting and completing scheduled home visits and related documentation during staff vacancies or absence
  • Capture, value, and appropriately document In-Kind, non-federal share
  • Utilize data to support continuous improvement efforts
  • Promote engagement strategies to increase participation
  • Support staff in building positive relationships with families and pregnant clients
  • Identify and address areas of non-compliance
  • Review and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and program requirements
  • Support recruitment, outreach, and enrollment efforts in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards to maintain full enrollment.
  • Monitor and ensure completion of all assigned program requirements to meet regulatory and programmatic deadlines

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES OR JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ensure any on-the-job accidents are reported immediately and followed up with appropriate forms.
  • Report any suspected fraud and abuse to the direct supervisor or SPCAA Fraud and Abuse Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or an associate’s degree in a field related to Social Work or development/education. 
  • Two year’s experience in job field may be substituted for one year of college if approved by the Executive Director.
  • Experience in a program which served disadvantaged families
  • Excellent organizational skills are required 
  • Demonstrate ability to use a computer is preferred
  • Ability to assume a leadership role is required
  • Available for some nights and weekend work

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The usual requirements in an office environment may require lifting boxes of supplies, equipment and occasional adjustments of office furniture
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasional bending or squatting required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Noise level could be moderate to loud in working in center.
  • Ability to work in close quarters.
  • Ability to drive, occasionally long distances.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Normal to heavy travel – ability to travel for activities such as on-site technical assistance, meeting classes and workshops in and out of the service area.
