Howard Maddera Scholarship Available for South Plains College Students

(LEVELLAND, TEXAS) – South Plains Community Action Association is proud to announce that applications are open for the Howard Maddera Scholarship. The endowed scholarship program was established by the SPCAA board of directors, the former American State Bank, and with contributions from various community members.

The Howard Maddera Scholarship is named after SPCAA founder Howard Maddera who was a respected community leader in the South Plains area. The scholarship awards 6 recipients with $1,000 each to assist them in their education journey. Applications are open until March 1st, 2023, and can be found by visiting www.southplainscollege.edu or by calling South Plains College at (806) 894-9611.

Access to quality education is vital to the health and prosperity of any community. SPCAA recognizes the importance young adults have in shaping the future of the South Plains area. The Head Start division under the agency is an illustration of the value of investing in education from the early stages of childhood development.

The South Plains Community Action Association mission statement is “Helping People. Changing Lives.” At the heart of all the services provided at SPCAA, that mission statement holds strong. The agency is proud to contribute to the South Plains community through this scholarship.
